1) πŸ’Έ $1 Trillion in Subsidies:

The Biden administration has rolled out around a trillion dollars in subsidies for everything from electric vehicles to solar panels. His new strict tax credit related to hydrogen has caused frustration in the energy industry. The defined regulations for obtaining the credit are believed to be harsh, and could slow current project projections. Learn more here 
 

2) ⬇️ Gravity Powered Battery Storage:

Energy Vault has developed an innovative gravity energy storage system (GESS) that China is moving quickly to adopt. In August, China invested in this first-of-a-kind technology, and construction of the maiden Energy Vault facility began. Now, China has commissioned six additional facilities. Learn more here
 

3) ❌ Less Billions for O&G:

ING bank has made the decision to cut financing to upstream oil and gas by 2040. Currently, ING lends around 4 billion euros to this sector, so this will have a major impact on the industry. ING plans to triple renewables over the next two years as well. This is part of a new climate strategy. Learn more here

  • In the US, household waste increases by 25% between Christmas and New Year's Day

  • In the UK, 30% or more food is wasted during Christmas season

  • In Canada, 540,000 metric tons of gift wrap are discarded after Christmas

  • Christmas light displays lead to large increases in energy usage

Waste projections continue to grow, so it's important to be mindful of the impact of waste and energy consumption during the holiday season. An awareness of energy usage is important in the changing energy industry, and can go a long way in influencing consumer habits. Learn more here
